CHYTOWN has done it again and I’m almost sure that each and every video she creates for her music will be full of capturing visuals and creativity. I’m also convinced that anyone complaining about making a video and finding a space to do it honestly wasn’t looking hard enough. With a few resources a team of friends and family that believe in her vision CHYTOWN was able to pull a crisp visual for her song “Cheeba”.
The song “Cheeba” featuring Pooh T’d Up was sampled for the original 1976 hit single “Smokin Cheeba Cheeba” by Paul Winley and Ann Winley with The Harlem Underground Band. The original single was able to land many sync licensing deals being featured in popular games like “Grand Theft Auto” and featuring in the hit comedic cartoon television series “South Park”. CHYTOWN stayed true to the comedic and lighthearted song by incorporating dancing scenes with her and her friends.
CHYTOWN states “I wanted to sample “Smoking Cheeba Cheeba” so that I could leave my mark on a family classic” and that goes without saying. The video is one minute and 34 seconds of pure fun and laughter. Imagine taking all of your friends to Times Square for a night out on the town and turning that fun experience into a full fledge mini-movie. Cinematically the angles and the pans were so on point that you needed to rewind it back just to make sure you didn’t miss anything. Although Pooh T’d Up was not visually seen in the video every move that was made captured the essence and tone of his verse.
CHYTOWN - “ My bro Pooh T’d Up was in the studio with me and my Producer Dee Vargas the day Cheeba was made. Dee was trying to figure out how to make the Original song into a Jersey mix sample, We all tried. We kept messing around with the sounds till we got the right loop. Once Dee started laying out the beat, I started writing. Pooh had never been in the booth before but clearly, you couldn’t tell.”
