Hey Teasippers today I will be sharing this week’s new artist that has come to get Spilled.
Every month or hopefully every week I will be SPILLIN the tea on what artist I think deserves recognition for their work . If there is anything you know about me by now is that you know that I am going to give you the real and that’s just what I’m going to have you sip on today.

Teasippers, I would like to introduce Brand-nu an alternative hip hop artist from Staten Island. Of course like most entertainment artist I was curious to hear some of his work , but I was even more curious to learn his story . When I do interviews I don’t want to just know what project your working on I want to know what motivated you to even create art. So being the curious lover of music (especially hip hop) and blogger that I am ; I immediately replied to Brand-nu when he reached out for me . One thing I can say is that this young man is talented . Like most people that eat, sleep, and breathe music during our exchange he told me that he was working on a new project as we speak. That among other things excites me about an artist . I am the self proclaimed pretty hustler and the one thing that I have to admire in anyone no matter what field they venture into is the hustle.
After sending Brand-nu over the different promotion services I have for artist and written blog interview questions automatically noticed his eagerness for his story to be heard. Major brownie points off the bat. I asked Brand-nu what drove him to create this type of art . He said “ I've had this drive to create music since age 9. I started with beatboxing (which I still do ) and it just turned into music production and writing lyrics.” How can you not respect an artist especially a hip hop artist that writes and produces their own work. That takes a lot of drive and determination most importantly major influences. Brand -nu went on to say “ My family and loved ones push me to be consistent and of course my own determination to be respected for my craft . I don’t want much but respect is key and should be given to anyone trying hard.” I definitely agree with humility is something a lot of artist are not built with . In this industry in order to be respected for your craft you need to not expect anything from anyone but pure honesty.
Coming from a half Puerto rican and Ecuadorian culture definitely shaped him as an artist. He emphasized to me that he doesn’t want to put himself in a box . The one thing that stood out to me when being asked “ If you were to succeed in your craft who would you give back to and who would you give credit to ? “ He responded “ I would honestly give back to my family for putting me on to good hip hop artist as well as amazing Mo Town and Pop artists such as George Benson , Michael Jackson , Hall and Oats , Eminem , Biggie Smalls , Tupac, Nas , and so on . Their music is what influences me today and I’m thankful they showed me them at such a young age and just supporting me for the most part .” That statement really opened my eyes and warmed my heart. I literally get goosebumps whenever I hear about an artist influencers. A lot of artists that I come across have the same influences that I have to write.
In conclusion of course I had to give him a question that most people especially musicians get nervous about being asked
Me: “ Your first project is something like a newborn child to some artist . If you can sum up the emotion you felt when you finished it with one word what would it be and why ?
Brand - nu : “ Nervous , I didn’t know how kids in my highschool were going to react nor my brother and sister . I just didn’t want to be seen as a joke. A lot of people liked my first project but it really wasn’t that good in my opinion . I sent 2 songs from my first tape to get reviewed by The Game and got a video review back with a rating of 4 out of 5 and that’s what made me lose my nervous tick .
As you should young man , as you should . Brand -nu is setting boundaries for himself every day although he hasn’t overcome any as far as his music is concerned . He believes that some songs come closer to his vision than others. He says “ I like what I create and love my messages but I want to transcend to more than just being “ the guy that raps “ into being someone you can rely on for quality music you can share with your friends.”
I wish more artist had the same visions. Music is to set the tones of society. Music creates emotions that people never knew they had . To have the pleasure of interviewing an artist that understands the concept of creating great music . If want to see more of Brand-nu check out the links posted at the end of this article .

Keep sipping , it's good for you. .
