"Just For U" EP Review

New York - Donald “X-yle” Patterson of Queens, New York dropped his most recent EP - “Just For U” nearly three weeks ago to date. Some of X-yle’s favorite songs on “Just For U” are: “VVS”, “Do It To Me”, “Make It Happen”, and “Up & Down”.

“VVS is a flipped explanation as a metaphorical spin to the clarity of diamonds” - X-Yle.

This dedicated artist within the music industry has created a very and I mean very impressive résumé for himself. X-YLE has been featured in The Source Magazine, on Power 105.1 (NY), and Hot 97 (NY). He has interviewed with Jack Thriller for This Is 50 and has shared the stage with Tony Yayo of G-Unit. X-Yle went on tour and showcased his musical talent for Bad Boy Records, Def Jam Records, G-Unit, Interscope Records, Street Sweepers, and Violators.

-“In 5 years I see myself winning a Grammy and becoming a notarized artist overall” -X-Yle.

X-Yle is a descendant of Jamaica where both of his parents have laid his foundational roots. His family is spread across the fourteen parishes on the island of Jamaica such as Trewlany and Kingston to name a few. X-Yle is the middle child in his family and a Libra born on October 13th. The young artist seems to get his witty personality from his father, who is fun-filled and with very comical punchlines.

Growing up X-Yle would look up to his favorite male rappers in the music world and see them as his role models. X-Yle’s top three rappers he admired while growing up are DMX (R.I.P. and happy belated birthday), Busta Rhymes (latest project “BlockBusta” is out and Busta Rhymes is currently on tour), and Nas (Co-Founder of Mass Appeal Records). X-Yle commends DMX on his honesty and how he is in-depth with raw emotions. DMX allowed X-Yle to open up for his show and the ability to showcase his talent at said featured shows. Wow!, not only did X-Yle watch DMX as a youth; X-Yle was able to perform for him and converse with him backstage. DMX and Xyle even had a comedic moment where they exchanged jokes backstage later that night.

As for Busta Rhymes being one of his favorites; X-Yle admires Busta Rhymes’ stage presence. Anyone who knows Busta Rhymes knows that his energetic, fast lyrical, and vibrant stage presence is insanely unmatched! If you have ever had a chance to see X–Yle take a stage - I must say he nailed it (stage presence-wise) and added his twist to it as well. Nas is mentioned as an artist to look up to in the music world by X-Yle - is because of their articulating intelligence along with their lyrical presence. I most definitely can see exactly what he is stating here when conversing upon his reasons about the artist Nas’ musical talent. By all means X-Yle has selected some strong staples of artists as individuals to look up to in the music game.

X-Yle is one very creative individual; did you know that this artist wrote, produced, featured as a star, and even did a soundtrack called “Do It To Me - ft Jai Emm”  for his most recent movie titled “The Grey Area”  featured on Tubi? - Sheesh! The Grey Area by Donald “X-Yle” Patterson took him almost three years to hit the screen with and to write, but only two days of production to complete - talk about hard work. The reason for the three-year delayed hiatus with this movie project; was due to the pandemic with COVID-19 and the nation shutting down. This movie project adds to the 20 years placed in his music and entertainment industry career as a rising star to date.

-“If I could do this life journey all over again; I would do it the same way. My journey has taught me everything I know and I would not change who I am today!”. - X-YLE.

When asked what artists’ X-Yle would like to work with; he stated that J.Cole, SchoolBoy Q, Kendrick Llamar, Lloyd Banks, Offset, and international artists such as Tayc, Dadju, and Burna Boy. X-Yle has also performed at rap battles also known as “Cyphers”. He won first place in a cypher competition online called Punchline Academy”. X-Yle had the honor to perform for legendary artist Kool G Rap; this opportunity was the award for winning the online competition for “Punchline Academy”. X-Yle was even featured on Shade 45 by Amadeus as well. X-Yle managed to wrap his year performing at Young Atlas’ “Creative Connection Mixer”, Spill It Entertainment’s monthly event called “Bae Brunch”, and closing out December with Light But Heavy’s 10th Anniversary Live Light But Pack Heavy”.

-“ Lloyd Banks - I think he doesn't get enough recognition. He has mastered making songs like a mainstream artist and still has lyrical punchlines like an underground artist or battle rapper. That's not easy to do. Plus I think an X-Yle/Lloyd Banks’ record would be so Queens” - X-Yle.
